The Center for Guardianship Certification (CGC) recently named Eric O’Connor, CMPT, NCG, Executive Vice President, River Communities Fiduciary Services Inc. (RCFS), Ambridge, PA, as the 2021 National Certified Guardian Excellence Award winner. One of the highest honors bestowed by CGC, this national award recognizes the person’s exemplary work as a CGC National Certified Guardian and their demonstrated knowledge of advanced guardianship concepts, ethics, and issues.
CGC Executive Director Denise Calabrese, CAE, said “Eric is a dedicated and hardworking leader, who spends countless hours working for the betterment of others.”
“I am very honored,” said O’Connor. “It’s a great reflection on me, our team, and our agency, River Communities Fiduciary Services Inc. When we first started RCFS, I saw a lot of value in becoming a National Certified Guardian. The certification has provided me with an excellent foundation of knowledge that includes the history of guardianship, standards of practice, and a support network.”
Eric attended Robert Morris University and obtained degrees in Human Resources and Business Management. He worked with business owners to produce positive financial outcomes and also served as a Trust Officer for Life Enrichment Trust. He holds the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) Series 7, Series 66, and Series 6 qualifications and is a Circle of Wealth Advisor. He is also an Authorized Practitioner of the Nelson Nash Institute.
Most recently, Eric became a Certified Medicaid Planner™ (CMP). This designation identifies him as a professional in the Medicaid planning field who has been awarded certification by the CMPTM Governing Board.
Active in the industry and his community, Eric has served for 10 years on the Beaver County Children and Youth Services Advisory Board, where he is currently the acting Chairman. In 2019, he was selected to participate (and continues to serve) on a statewide committee overseeing changes and enhancements to the Pennsylvania Guardianship Tracking System. This tracking system is a web-based program for guardians, court staff, orphans’ court clerks, and judges to file, manage, track, and submit reports. This system integrates guardian information which helps protect Pennsylvania’s most vulnerable citizens while streamlining and improving the guardianship filing process.
